The Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher is a fantastic tool for the DIY Detailer. If it has any weakness right out of the box, it would be the backing plate. The stock Porter Cable backing plate has a tough outer edge that can cause damage to the paint surface should the come into contact. It is also quite stiff and inflexible.

The GP Backing Plate is considerably more flexible than the standard Porter Cable backing plate, making it much more effective especially on curved surfaces. It is also made of a lighter plastic material that lessens the possibility of accidental damage from paint contact. This is a very good initial modification to the PC as it makes it safer to operate as well as more effective. This backing plate is hook-and-loop and works with a wide range of pads from Meguiar's, 3M, Lake Country, etc.
